For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to become a teacher. When I was a little girl, I made all of my friends "play school" with me whenever I had the chance. I would make my friends take tests and pretend to give them homework. It was the only thing I ever wanted to play as a child. Now I am older and I no longer have to "play" school. In just a few short months, I will be finished with my undergraduate program and will hopefully be able to finally live out my dream.
In the fall of 2014, I fulfilled my student teaching requirement. I started in a first grade general education classroom, and finished in a fourth grade general education classroom. In both classrooms, I was able to work alongside teachers, and learn how to teach to the individual needs of students. In the classroom, I was able to teach Mathematics and ELA lessons. I had the opportunity to sit down with parents during open house, as well as parent/teacher conferences. In my second placement, I developed and implemented a FBA/BIP for a student. During this time, I was able to apply everything that I had learned in the education program at MSMC, as well as learn new things from the teachers I worked alongside with. I hope one day in the foreseeable future to have my own classroom where I can teach and empower our youth, as well as build on my own personal teaching skills.
